Wizard101 takes home Reader's Choice Best MMO of 2010
Although print magazines may not make much of an impression in my daily life (the only time I touch one is when I carry my wife’s Entertainment Weekly to the recycling bin), there’s no denying the influence and readership behind Beckett Massive Online Gamer. One of the best-known MMO print magazines, Beckett’s comes out roughly bimonthly and, aside from industry ‘news’ (less than two months out of date!), strategies, and tips, it can be laboriously deboned to yield a number of in-game item codes every issue.
Most notably, Beckett Massive Online Gamer also runs an annual Reader’s Choice Award, collecting entries and votes from their readership in a massive (heh) two month caucus. In a surprising-if-you-don’t-play-it turn of events, KingsIsle Entertainment’s Wizard101 captured top honors in several categories, including Best MMO of 2010, which is a testament both to its burgeoning ten million player fan base and their somewhat astonishing use of non-digital news media.

Wizard101's playerbase proved surprisingly aware of paper publications. Must be all the scrolls they read.
A complete list of the winning games can (of course) be found in the next issue of Massive Online Gamer, but BMOG also released the winner’s list to the internet for anyone who’d like to find out the results approximately when they actually happened.
Best MMO of 2010: Wizard101 (KingsIsle)
Best New MMO of 2010: Star Trek Online (Cryptic)
Best Fantasy MMO of 2010: World of Warcraft (Blizzard)
Best Non-Fantasy MMO of 2010: Eve Online (CCP Games)
Best Kid-Friendly/All-Ages MMO of 2010: Wizard101 (KingsIsle)
Best F2P MMO of 2010: Wizard101 (KingsIsle)
Best Online Console Game of 2010: Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
Most-Anticipated MMO: Guild Wars 2 (NCSoft)
Congratulations to the winners!
