Ask an Asuran
Scott from Enigma http://gw2-enigma.enjin.com/home asks “I would like to know if there is UI functionality for guilds with regards alliances (or if we will) have ingame functionality eg alliance chat rather than having to create chat channels”
As of yet, alliances have not been confirmed to exist in any form that would be familiar to guild wars 1 players, but it seems as though guilds will be of an unlimited or at least larger than 100 person size. They’ve said that you can monitor chats from a guild that you are currently not displaying but you can only view one guild’s chat at a time (I could be wrong on this). Excessive googling didn’t provide fruitful results.

If you’ve got a burning question for our Ask an Asuran segment, please let us know!
I am a new player to guild wars. I jumped on the band wagon very late after playing WoW for 6 years and growing tired of the same old thing. I originally bought guild wars for the extra goodies you could earn for Guild Wars 2 but have found that I am enjoying the game immensely. My problem is I have no idea what I’m doing in this game! I have no friends that play, no guild and aside from the wiki or a Youtube video here and there, I have no one to ask for help. The more I play the more I realize how difficult the Guild Wars 2 points are to get and it is disheartening to find that unless you have in game money to spend, a group of friends and a thorough knowledge of the game you aren’t going to be able to achieve much of anything :(. I have been listening to you guys for a couple months now and you give off a kind and helpful vibe, so I thought “Why not!” and decided to ask for your help/advice. I am currently still completing prophecies (questing around Lion’s Arch). If you have any advice for a newbie on where I should be heading in the game or where I should start for points (if you think I can even get any before release) please reply! I have looked at the points calculator on GuildWars2.com and honestly have no idea what on earth all the items on the lists are. I’m lost, help me! Thanks for taking the time to read my rambling email. :)
First piece of advice, if youtube, wiki, and guides don’t have what you’re looking for, ask in local chat. The worse that can happen is that you’ll be trolled, which since you’ve played WoW for so long you should be kind of used to that. The points are tricky, especially if you don’t have all the campaigns. My second point is to get up to level 12 by following the main storyline of the campaign you started your character in. After that go IMMEDIATELY to Eye of the North so you can get some high level heroes. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Eye_of_the_North#Access If you don’t have Eye of the North, just keep following the storyline. I’d say that Prophecies is the easiest to fumble through (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_Prophecies_missions_and_primary_quests) It takes some work but it can be done solo with henchmen if needed. That’s how I got through it back in 2007. If you like we can meet up in game, I’m there as Ella Cookie and I’ve always got goodies lying around for new players who need a leg up. The best way to get started on your points is by completing campaigns (missions), then cycle to capturing some essential elites for yourself and heroes (that’s the ask an asuran this week), and vanquishing is next (you can do elite captures, vanquish (always bring lockpicks if you’ve for the money for it to work on treasure hunter title, identify all the golds you get for the wisdom title), cartographer, and point-farming concurrently). After you get Ranger unlocked as a secondary start capturing pets (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Fellowship%22#Animal_companions) and getting hero armors with challenge missions. Once you have all three campaigns done in normal mode: farm for the gifts of the traveler, try to get the Zaishen Missions quests and get them done in Hard Mode (there will usually be people at that mission all day), and do the Zaishen Bounties to pick up elites. This will earn you consumables for pve, sugar(http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Sweet_Tooth), party (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Party_animal), alcohol (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Drunkard), and zaishen coins. Zaishen coins (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_coins) are good for earning your equipment pack at first but there’s tons of other things you can trade them in for as well.
