Guild Wars Reporter Episode 32 – Butter Battles?
What We Did This Week
Hollander Cooper – Features Editor at Games Radar
Coop: Been taking some time off after hitting 80 on my Ranger. I think I want to start a new alt, but I’m not sure. I still haven’t completed my story quest, but I’ll see where it goes.
Celeste: Lv 72, CM SM, AC SM, Mesmer is still distracting me from finishing my storyline with Ranger. Trying Engineer soon.
- Created more alts. Sigh. I now have a Warrior, Engineer, Elementalist, Rogue, Ranger, Necromancer and Mesmer.
- Level 48 now on my warrior, and starting to feel the urge to try out different alts and different facets of the game, so the “new” feeling that I spoke of last week must have worn off.
- I’ve run AC story a few times now, and I’m itching to get in on explorable!
- WuvWuv! Thinking of starting to get a weekly WuvWuv night going. Anyone interested in watching/participating?

New video – What is Guild Wars 2?
- Would this have been a better launch video than the other one?
- Cel – all they would’ve had to do was recut this to be shorter and it would’ve been a more traditional and at least a little more measured trailer. also, why wasn’t this released sooner?
Ask An Asuran
Question from Christie
Hi! I love y’all’s podcasts (I listen to the Rift and GW2 shows)! I have a question for you…I hope you can help.
I am new to MMOs; Rift is the first game I have ever reached max level in. I started playing when I met my now-husband (who has been an MMO player since the first EverQuest), and I don’t know whether my problem is because I did not grow up playing computer or video games very much. Anyway, every time I start a new game, I have to turn the mouse sensitivity way down. It makes it hard to play at times, but I get dizzy and sick otherwise when I run around in the game and especially when my character turns around a lot. It makes me feel silly, but I can play Rift just fine with my noob-tastic adjustments.
Anyway, I have tried turning down the camera rotation speed on GW2, and I have put the game in a window and stretched it to create a wider field of view (a trick I read about online). I still get sick playing it, though. It’s a pain, since GW2 is so awesome, and I love the story my hubby is playing through.
Do you have any advice or tricks for how I can either adjust GW for my deficit, or how I can get over this stuff? It’s a pretty big handicap for my new gaming life.
Thank you so much, and I’ll see you in game,
I totally empathize since my recent problems with Meniere’s. One piece of definite advice I can speak to is to never drink alcohol in game. The waving and disorienting effects nearly had me running to the bathroom. It’s kind of scary how close my problems with GW2 is with hers. After I got sick the dodge button was my worst nightmare. I’ve gotten used to the dipping and diving. I think one of the things that has helped to ease my particular symptoms has been to turn off a lot of the audio so that I don’t have the added sensory input. I played zoomed out with the graphics relatively low so that if I do run into an instance of disorientation I can minimize the effects. You’ve done most of the things I would recommend and hopefully it’s just a settling period before you’ll be able to get used to all the rolling and jolting movement that can happen in game.
