STO Featured Episodes make a triumphant comeback
Jan 27th
Originally introduced in the summer of 2010, the Star Trek Online Featured Episodes were a heaping spoonful of awesome for a content starved community. The story driven series of missions, released at one week intervals, were a new approach for Cryptic, but they managed to keep the quality of the episodes to the highest standard while maintaining their release schedule. A feat that other developers could learn from (Where’s episode three Valve?).
I have enjoyed the Featured Missions in the past with Night of the Comet, the finale of the last season, being a highlight. You can see more of my thoughts about the Featured Missions in the March issue of PC Gamer.
Cryptic has teased STO fans with the release of the schedule for the new season, starting with the launch of ”The Vault” on February 5th, followed by four more weekly releases until the finale goes live on March 5th. With the devious Romulan Star Empire as the theme for this season, players are sure to be in for some great political intrigue, and perhaps even some epic battles against Romulan ships.
What’s that? You haven’t done the featured mission yet? Well head in-game and get them done before the launch of the new season. They’re a great addition the game, and you can thank me later.
