Christmas is a magical time of year, when snow falls in the northern hemisphere and Santa sails from the North Pole in his sled to bring hearty battle pets to all the good little boys and girls around the World… of Warcraft.
In honor of the season and the wonderful holidays and traditions it brings, we’re building a Winter Wonderland team, stuffed to the stockings with wintery, Christmasy goodness!
This week, Harry talks about MMO Terrorism, Harry and Chris’s ghost talk about the Wildstar beta, and Layanor replaces his favorite game of all time, with something new.
For our 30th episode and our 10th pet battle team, we wanted to do something special. We set out to build a team that took the best of all the pets we’ve used so far, and combine them into some sort of giant robot-monster of awesomeness that would wipe out everything in its path (and hopefully not destroy Tokyo).
The time for judgment has come. Will our supposed “best” pets live up to the title?
The Celestial Tournament has made every pet battler rage-quit at least once. That’s why when one of our longtime listeners, Skruffy Zookeeper, wrote in asking for help beating two of its bosses–Xufu the tiger spirit and Zao the ox spirit–I knew we had to stick together and solve this puzzle.
I put together a quick guide that should help you figure out the core concepts behind taking these legendary spirit-beasts down. Even better, I used pets that we’ve already leveled for some of our other teams wherever possible. There’s definitely more than one way to beat these teams, though. Toss your own strategies in the comments to help out your fellow pet battlers!
Highlights from Blizzcon 2013 showing off the new expansion for World of Warcraft: Warlord of Draenor. This video includes the announcement, small portions of the panel dedicated to the expansion, as well as part of our interview with J Allan Brack.
We’re building our 10th pet battle team on the show this week! We’ve fought with a lot of great pets along the way, and I think it’s time we return to our roots and build a team without some fancy aesthetic theme. It’s time to build a team that wins, composed entirely of pets we’ve used in previous teams.
The very first team we tested was our Mechanical Monsters team, which revolved around casting Lightning Storm, the weather effect that boosts Mechanical damage and adds damage to every hit taken. It’s a fun team, and I still get messages about once a week from new pet battlers trying it out and having success with it.
So this week, when we’re celebrating our 10th team, we’re going to pay homage to the classic. This is a little team that I like to call Lightning Storm 2.0
In a world obsessed with zombies, pet battlers cried out for a hero–a team that could rise up and defend the world against the undead threat in the way that only chlorophyll-powered turrets can.
The people demanded a plants pet battle team, and we built one for them. But did it actually hold up its end of the bargain? Did it save the world or watch it burn? Let’s find out in this week’s review episode.
We all know Garrosh is about to get what’s coming to him. That big, brutish jerk of an orc tried to kill my hero, Vol’jin, and for that alone, I’m going to make sure all my Troll characters are in the Orgrimmar raid that comes with patch 5.4 next Tuesday to help Vol’jin take him down once and for all.
But this is a pet battle podcast, and we care about what Blizzard is doing to our beloved tiny creatures/elementals/robots on September 10, when patch 5.4 hits!
There are a lot of Undead pets roaming out there in PvP right now. It’s not really surprising: their passive is one of the best in the game, and they’ve got a lot of cool attacks.
But it’s still a problem, because these undead zombies are killing me. And that makes me sad. But if Popcap’s awesome tower defense game taught me anything, it’s that zombies have one crucial weakness: plants!
So this week, we’re building a team filled only with leafy greens your mother would be proud to see on your dinner plate.
